Time
The local time in Taipei is GMT+8 hours, Standard Time.
Weather
Starting in September, Taipei's weather gradually transitions from summer afternoon thunderstorms to a pattern dominated by the autumn northeast monsoon. The rainfall shifts from brief, intense downpours typical of summer afternoons to more prolonged, steady drizzles, particularly noticeable in areas such as Neihu, Nangang, and Yangmingshan. The average daily high and low temperatures are around 31°C and 25°C, respectively. It may still feel somewhat humid during midday, but cooler temperatures can often be felt in the evenings and early mornings. It is recommended to wear short-sleeved T-shirts or shirts during the day, and to bring a light jacket for the evening and early morning if needed.
Electricity
Taipei uses an electrical voltage of 110V at 60Hz. Some buildings also have 220V outlets. It is recommended that visitors bring their own converters if their appliances use a different voltage.

Currency
The official currency in Taipei is the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD), with an exchange rate of approximately 32 NTD to 1 USD. NTD is available in the following denominations: Coins: 1, 5, 10, 20, 50; Banknotes: 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000.
Foreign currencies can be exchanged at government-designated banks, hotels, and department stores. Major credit cards, such as American Express, MasterCard, JCB, and Visa, are widely accepted. However, as some local stores do not accept traveler's checks, it is recommended to exchange them for NTD at foreign-exchange banks in advance.

Service Charge and Tipping
A 10% service charge is typically added in hotels or some restaurants. Tipping is not mandatory, but you may show your appreciation for excellent service with a small tip.
Emergency Contact Number
Police: 110; Fire and ambulance: 119.
Dial 110 to report crimes, public security concerns, traffic incidents, and general emergencies. Dial 119 for emergency medical and fire services, such as in case of a fire or when first aid is needed.
